The genius that is Sevdaliza is back ‘Oh My God’, a listen heavy with iconoclastic twisted elegance. Her endless innovation stands at the forefront of every track that this Iranian-Dutch artist puts out, as found time and time again in List Picks ‘Darkest Hour’, ‘Mad Woman’, ‘Bebin’ and more. ‘Oh My God’ deviates into warped vocals and glitchy cuts over bottomed-out bass beat showcasing her immense production skill. It’s a real reinvention of the well-worn genre of trip-hop, and this new space becomes a vehicle for Sevdaliza’s subtle protest of the world’s current socio-political unrest, and in particular the US-Iran conflict. She does so by drawing on her own journey as a refugee who fled Iran due to political reasons.
